SUBs technical details

Subs provides a set of web pages that allow a Web site administrator to:

• Easily set up and customise Subs
• Add new users with details including address, subscription period, Credit Card details, Notes etc.
• Prevent pilfering by pirates by automatically detecting password compromise and disabling suspicious accounts.
• Change user passwords
• Change and remove users
• Regenerate Web server password files.
• Send bulk email to all users or a selected subset: good for promotions and notifications.
• Choose database file formats (DBM, Flat File, Comma Separated)
• Choose password file formats (NCSA Flat File, DBM)
• Generate secure, pronounceable passwords automatically
• Optionally email new users with their user name and password when access is granted.
• Automatically rebuild the password file each day
• Allow the public to register online, with optional immediate access and Credit Card charging.
• Allow subscribers to check account details and change their own password.

Subs Requires:

• Unix host (Windows NT soon)
• If you will be using the Credit Card details, we Strongly Recommend that you use a secure Web server to access Subs in order to protect your client's information.
